Introduction
Hi there!
I see you’re new here. I haven’t seen you around these parts. Welcome to my character cove. Population: 1; aka. Me. I’m Celladora, but you can call me Cella. Of course, that isn’t my real name. It’s my online name, my persona or identity. I’ll mainly talk about ocs here. If you recognize the meaning of the word, I’m proud of you. I can take an educational guess at what you’re wondering.
“Hey, Cella. What the hell is an ‘oc’?”
“Why, out of everything you could talk about, would you choose that topic, Cella?”
Throughout this blog, you will come to learn that I am weird and a nerd- or a geek. I’m not sure which one, I just know I get called it a lot. . . by my sister. Something about me is that I love love love writing. Creativity is my specialty. I discovered that in late 6th grade, a way to write in a way which others could see me. It was a whole community that had many subcategories and platforms. It spread onto games, chatting platforms, and more. I still discover more platforms to this day. But it was a way where I could make my very own original character. . . and then have them communicate and interact with another person’s oc! It was magnificent! I could write a story with another person. Simply put, it was basically that.
“Wait. What is it called? Have I heard of it before?”
I’m pretty sure you don’t know what I’m talking about. There’s no real name for it. I asked my friends and their words were “writing stories” or writing “cooperative stories.” It’s like Dungeons and Dragons but not saying it out loud, writing it instead. I’ve been doing it for around 6 years now. Honestly, it really has helped me improve in writing and appreciate writing so much more. And I’ve met so many talented people because of it, both in artistic and writing fields. Because, like many, I draw my characters. One of my best friends does it with me. And it makes me happy to draw out these characters in scenarios, like graphic novel panels, and bring life to others ocs.
“Aw, that doesn’t sound so bad.”
Yeah, it really isn’t. It is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Basically, it’s like collaborating on a creative writing project in english class- which I have done before. But only, you’re going back and forth with another or multiple people, writing with grammar and proper formatting in third person, past tense.
“I think I understand a little more.”
Yes, It’s very common but kept a secret by most people I’ve met. I’ve met jocks who do it and still keep it a secret. But like I said, you meet unique people through it. In the past year, I’ve found a solid friend group who share this in common with me. Like my friend, Iris, we both have so much in common with this topic so I’m thinking of having her featured in a blog in a discussion.
“What else will be on the blog?”
I’ll be talking about my experiences with creating characters and my friend’s ocs, along with ones I love from tv shows and movies. I’ll deconstruct them, fangirl about the writing and complexity of their development. I’ll sneak in art, as well, of characters and tell you about my malicious writing plots. Hopefully, you will stick around!
That’s all from the cove!
