Creator VS Character: Part 1
Hello folks and welcome back to yet another post of Celladora’s Character Cove! Maybe I should shorten it up for now, what do you think? Cella’s Cove?
Anyways, today we are going to be talking about character vs creator. As you may know from my introduction, I have many talented friends who also create characters. Today, I’d like to share some of my brief interviews with them. We’re going to be diving into how the creator and their characters actually have quite a bit in common.
A man of the arts, he writes poems and draws all of his characters. He single-handedly created an entire world for us all to put our characters in. A man full of creativity, goofiness and kindness, please welcome… MATT!!!!

Hi Matt! Give us a short description of your character, Dizil!
Dizilia Avery Flowers, a behemoth lizard man standing at 8'3" and weighing 467 lbs. Dizil runs an underground fight club that keeps itself afloat via the funds from his more famously known burlesque night club, Pink Lemonade. He was once an ordinary pet Gila monster but was subjected to rapid growth after surviving a wild hound attack and fleeing to the sewers, where he was cast out into the ocean and mutated over time from an influx of foreign parasites.
Some say that every creator puts a piece of themselves into their work, or in this case, their characters. Do you see any pieces of yourself in Dizil's actions, words, habits, and overall character?
I'd say Dizil holds many fragments of my internalized self that I'm not so great at displaying. His mannerisms, personality, opinions, and even thought processing all have a shared vessel with my own. They're not identical but they do resemble one another in a partly integral fashion.
Dizil sees life as not much more than a canister of bad luck that he's been dropped into the mix of. However while he acknowledges the negativities, he chooses simply not to respond to them. He carves out his own mountains with what he's given and whatever holds him back is another obstacle he'll run right through, rather than spend time thinking of a way around it. In some sense, this is how I deal with many of my own problems.
I try not to trace my fingers over every detailed crevice of the issue when I could just handle the majority of it and move on. Dizil finds freedom and expression in removing himself from social dilemmas; politics, arguments, propaganda and so forth. He views it all as a form of breaking away relationships and creating more segregation in society. This is why of all careers, he's chosen to run a club where people can come and act as themselves without the means of saving face. This is highly reflective of my own views, though I'd never hold interest in running a club; it's just not what I'd enjoy. I could continue on a more macroscopic scale but I think these defining points are enough.
Thank you, Matt. Most people would look at the comparison between you and your character and think there could be nothing in common between an 18 year old and a reptilian man. But, unless they get to know the character and their design, they are ignorant to the relationship between character and creator.
Let’s move on to our next guest… He's a heartwarming guy who has the personality of a protagonist and loves mangoes! It’s… DYLAN!! He, also known as Dulab, has come to talk about his character, Tarion; Tari. However, he wishes to keep his face off of the internet, so instead is a picture of Mango Dulab, drawn by Taylor. Tari is also drawn by the beautiful Taylor!
Dulab! Give us a short description of Tari, please!
Tari is an old angry 47 year old man who lives with a sentient parasite in his body. The parasite caused him to gain an odd addiction to murder, along with it having heavy mental and physical influence on him. He also has two children he adopted after their parents died in a fire. To feed his addiction, Tari became a mercenary and uses Bellum, who can shift into different items and mainly weapons, to kill those he is set after.
Tari is an old character of yours as well, we've seen a younger version of him before. Do you feel you have a strong connection with Tari's character and do you see parts of yourself in him?
Yeah, I think I can see pieces of me in him. I like to do that with most of my characters and set parts of my personality in them. With Tari, I tried to put in my protective side. I find that I'm pretty protective over those that I care about and Tari does the same with his children and other people he resonates with. The younger version of him was more curious and hard-headed, which I can relate to a lot.
I’ve always seen a lot of your morals and stubborn leadership in your characters and he is definitely a reflection of you. I find the family trees of your characters so interesting, clever and well thought out. I really can’t wait to see future generations. Thanks Dylan!
Creator VS Character: Part Two will be out next time, featuring the beautiful ladies: Taylor and Leah! Tune in next time, folks. That's all from the cove!

👏👏👏 Bravo! You and the people whom you've interviewed make pretty good points!
